I created this blog to have a place to post my travel stories, thoughts, and learnings from my travels. I hope that you find it interesting and informative.
Where do I start?
If you’re just joining us, I would recommend reading my blog post from the beginning. You can get a taste of what this blog is about. It will give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of content.
Where do I continue?
After you’ve read that article, you’ll know more or less what this blog is about. But, if you’re curious, here are some of the different kinds of content that you can expect to find on this website:
- Travel stories — These are my personal travel experiences, both good and bad. There is usually a mix of both, but you will find that I prefer the latter. I would recommend that you read these stories in order, as they will give you a better understanding of the places and the people that I meet while traveling.
- Travel advice — I will often share my tips and tricks on how to travel smarter, cheaper, and/or more adventurously. I have learned a lot from both traveling and working in the travel industry, and I hope that I can share some of that knowledge with you.
- Vlogs — Many people call these videos vlogs (or video blogs), but I prefer to think of them as travel videos. I will film myself traveling to different places and will try to include as much detail as possible about the culture, the people, and the overall experience. I hope that you will find these videos interesting and enlightening.
- Photos — I always like to include a few photos in my blog posts. Sometimes, they will be of a scene from the place that I visit; other times, they will be of a food product, a building, or someone. It really depends on what inspires me at the moment.
- Essays — These are my opinionated takes on a range of topics. Whether it’s food, culture, politics, or current events, you will usually find an essay from me somewhere on this blog. Some of my most popular essays can be found on this site in the past, so I would recommend checking them out if you’re looking for content.
- Interviews — I like to interview interesting people (usually from a different country/culture) about their travel experiences, what kind of advice they would give other people traveling, and so on. Sometimes, I will ask an obvious question about the place that I’m in (e.g., what is the typical breakfast here), but more often than not, these interviews will be about the person themselves and the questions will relate to the theme of my blog.
- Cooking Recipes — Sometimes, I will post recipes that were inspired by somewhere that I’ve been. Sometimes, I will just post a picture of the finished product and leave it at that. It really depends on what I feel like at the moment.
- Travel tips — I will usually leave you with a few travel tips, tricks, and recommendations. Whether it’s about finding a cheap flight ticket or figuring out how to get around a certain place, I will try to give you a few tips on how to make your travel experience easier and more enjoyable. It’s always nice to have some travel hacks and shortcuts that you can use to make your travels more convenient and painless.
- Viral Trends — At some point in my travels, I will notice a viral trend and will try to document it. I have gotten very lucky that many of these trends were things that I spotted before they went viral, and so I get to see them come into popularity around the world because of my blog. I love looking at Twitter trends and seeing the things that people are talking about and researching around the world. It’s definitely an interesting phenomenon to witness the effects of your travel blog in real time.
- Traveling — I will occasionally post about my travels. They are my passion, and so I will write about my travels whenever I can. I have been fortunate enough to travel around the world and to visit many beautiful places. These blogs will be mostly about my travels, so make sure that you are subscribed to my blog if you want to keep up with my travels. You can also find all of my travel blogs on my website.
- Family — If you’re following my blog, then you are probably aware that I have a son who is one year old at the moment. I will usually post about him in a few different ways, depending on what feels right at the time. He will occasionally make an appearance in a video or an essay that I’m writing, and so you will definitely see some of his cute little hand gestures and hilarious comments in the videos that I put on this site. He definitely has some smart things to say, once you get him rolling. The best part is that he’s already started learning how to read, so you’ll be able to read his mind and understand what he’s trying to tell you. Hopefully, these family blogs will make you feel a little bit closer to me. These are the people and aspects of my life that I love and enjoy sharing with you.
Why a travel blog?
As I mentioned before, I created this blog because I enjoy sharing my travels and the things that I learn from them with the world. But also, I feel like there are a lot of unanswered questions about traveling that don’t have adequate resources online. Many times, I will search for information about a certain place or topic and will either find nothing or a lot of conflicting data. When that happens, it’s usually a good idea to turn to someone who’s been there and can give you some valuable advice. That’s exactly what I intend to do with this blog. I hope that it will become an important source of information for people who are thinking about traveling, or who want to learn more about a place or culture that they’re interested in.
