GoDaddy
This year’s top web host was pretty much a given, but it’s always interesting to see how popular hosting providers rank in comparison to each other. This is especially intriguing with regard to the results of our survey, as you’ll see below.
It’s important to keep in mind that beyond the basics, such as price and features, there are significant differences between web hosts that can make a huge difference in your experience as a webmaster. We’re obviously biased, but from our experience hosting over 1M websites, Bluehost is hard to beat.
This year, GoDaddy finished #2 on our list of dedicated server hosting companies behind Bluehost. Of course, with Bluehost’s popularity comes a certain degree of familiarity for GoDaddy customers; over 83% of survey respondents said they’re very familiar with the platform.
HostGator
Our number three spot this year is HostGator. Like GoDaddy, HostGator offers a simple and straightforward hosting plan with a 1-click install for WordPress — no technical knowledge needed. You’ll also find that HostGator offers shared hosting plans at attractive prices. In fact, if price was the only factor considered, you could potentially get a free domain and install WordPress on a HostGator shared hosting plan.
When it comes to features, HostGator doesn’t disappoint either as you’ll find all the standard server-side features and a free domain name included.
1and1
Our number four spot this year goes to 1and1. This is an interesting case because while we don’t normally feature hosting providers on our list, 1and1 did make the cut this year. What makes 1and1 stand out from the crowd is that they’re a company that deeply understands the needs of digital marketers. This manifested itself in two ways:
- The inclusion of some amazing marketing tools that allow marketers to track and analyze website traffic and conversion.
- And last but not least, remarkable customer support that’s available 24/7 via live chat.
WP Engine
Our number five spot in 2015 goes to WP Engine. If you’re looking for a hosting provider that offers a lot of flexibility, a slick dashboard, and top notch customer support, then WP Engine is your best option. We wrote an entire blog post about why you should consider WP Engine if you’re looking for a top notch shared hosting provider.
Bluehost
This year’s number one spot is once again occupied by Bluehost. Just like GoDaddy and HostGator, Bluehost is a web host that simplifies the process of setting up a WordPress website. Their customer support is also world-class as they’re available via live chat 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
If you’re looking for a one-stop-shop for all your web hosting needs, then Bluehost is the best option available. Not only that, but you’ll also find that their pricing is extremely affordable.
These are just some of the companies that make up this year’s list of dedicated server hosting providers. Which company is your favorite?
